In the 17th century, the Andalusian Arabs of Fez, Morocco created the beginnings of the infamous red fez hat. Tradesmen and artisans tended to reject the fez, as it became, after a certain point, a way for the prosperous to express their wealth. However, despite this fact, it evolved into a symbol of modernity, which permeated the Near East.
Our Red Fez lamp somewhat recalls the idea of the red fez hat and so we felt it should carry the name. And in a way, that honors the tradesmen and artisans of the time. The hand-worked metal pieces accessorize the midsection of the lamp and add impact to each panel of frosted white glass. The mood it sets is serene and the ambiance is creates is warm and relaxing. So let this piece take you back in time and create an air of antiquity in your home.
